Drop in bed liners are typically made of plastic, recycled bags and leave wasted space between the liner and the bed. They are big wind catchers and most are ill fitted and whistle and roar as you drive down the road. With the wind beating on the drop in bed liner it causes shifting and vibration against the painted surface of the truck bed. This vibration is like a giant sander exposing the primer and even bare metal of the truck bed. So now, you have an abraded bed and water which equal rust and corrosion. Combine that with trapped debris, like dirt and leaves, it clogs the drain holes letting water sit between the drop in bed liner and the scared truck bed... rust and corrosion really gets going.

Now, a year or so later, your bed is a mess under that so called “Good Looking” drop-in bedliner that your dealer said was worth $400. Go ahead ask your dealer what he will do about that nasty looking truck bed….Ooops that voided the warranty... sorry you’ll have to pay to get it painted yourself!
A drop-in bed liner does void your paint warranty on your bed...even when installed by the dealer, and carries the logo stamped in the plastic. If the dealer says is does not void the warranty, get it in writing that they will repaint the bed "free" if it takes the paint off within the 5 year paint warranty...It won't happen..they will not put that in writing...so that is a good indication that it voids your warranty.

Ask these questions of the dealership if you are considering a factory installed liner...how long is the warranty? and who does the warranty? and what does it cover? And get it in writing from the dealership....
